Learn to Sail with SGYC
South Gippsland Yacht Club offers Introduction to Off the Beach Sailing courses on the waters of Anderson Inlet, Inverloch. The course aims to allow participants to learn and develop the fundamental skills of Sailing.
The Sailing School will include lots of coaching in boats, on-shore demonstrations and theory sessions. Students are encouraged to follow up the course with ongoing sailing so as to practise and reinforce the skills introduced.

What You Will Learn
Our courses cover:
- sailing safely
- rigging
- launching and landing a dinghy
- basic sailing techniques
- capsize recovery
- wind and water awareness
- basic rules of sailing.
All equipment including boats, and life jackets is provided by the club.
Who Can Join
Both children and adults are welcome. Lessons involve sailing on small nimble boats. You will need to be a proficient swimmer and prepared to get wet in a small sailing dinghy.
Family groups are welcome and we have boats to accommodate parent-child teams.
Cost
$250 pp plus an option of rest of season SGYC membership at $160 (sailing adult/family) and the regular one-off joining fee for SGYC of $85 is waived.
The club does offer a discount for family groups of 3 or more for the lessons.
